Ultrasonic Cleaning
Our ultrasonic cleaning technique uses high frequency sound waves to remove contaminants such as dirt, rust lime, grease, iron scale and flux agents.

Avoid catastrophic failure and minimize or eliminate downtime using our new ultrasound technique to clean Plate and Frame heat exchangers. Heat exchangers can be cleaned within normal working shift, without the burden of disassembling and reassembling. We also continue to offer the standard practice of cleaning plate and frame heat exchangers ( taking apart to clean,
then reassembling).

Our cleaning process uses ultrasound (usually from 20-100 kHz) and ordinary
tap water to clean metal surfaces. The ultrasound can be used with water but, use of an appropriate solvent enhances the effect. Cleaning normally takes between one (1) and three (3) hours.

Ultrasonic cleaning uses high frequency sound waves to agitate in a liquid. Cavitation bubbles induced by the agitation act on contaminants adhering to substrates like metals and plastics. This action also penetrates blind holes, cracks, and recesses.

The intention is to thoroughly remove all traces of contamination that are tightly adhering or embedded onto solid surfaces. Water or other solvents can be used, depending on the type of contamination. Contaminants can include dust, dirt, rust, grease, lime, and/or iron scale, and flux agents.

Ultrasonic cleaning can be used for a wide range of heat transfer units, including plate and frame heat exchangers, hot water coils, hot water heater, Phase III heater, Amtrols, and copper pipe.

Our unit produces ultrasonic waves in the fluid by changing size in concert with an electrical signal oscillating at ultrasonic frequency.

This creates compression waves in the liquid of the plate & frame, coils, pipes, and tanks which ‘tear’ the liquid apart, leaving behind many millions of microscopic ‘voids’ or ‘partial vacuum bubbles’ (cavitation). These bubbles collapse with enormous energy; temperatures and pressures on the order of 5,000 K and 20,000 lbs per square inch are achieved.

However, they are so small that they do no more than clean and remove surface dirt and contaminants.

We are proud that while ultrasonic cleaning is being done by Concept Air, no chemical concentrations are used thus making the process more environmentally friendly unlike other methods of cleaning.

• Does not require HX units to be disassembled prior to cleaning.

• Little to no down time

• Increased temperature transfer across plates which results to energy savings

• Higher pressure on primary and secondary sides

• Services can be performed in a fraction of the time required by conventional   methods

• No environmental impact

• Cost efficient

• No metal degradation occurs.
